Many people are familiar with the Law of Attraction, but did you know there are actually twelve Universal Laws? Being familiar with and mastering these laws can greatly help you with manifesting what you want into your life. It also contributes to your spiritual growth. Here’s a brief overview of the 12 Universal Laws.

The Law of Divine Oneness
This Law states that everything in the universe is connected. All of our actions, thoughts and behaviors are linked. We are all energetically connected to each other, and to Source.
This means that when we are feeling good and putting out high vibes, we actually raise the collective energy of all. If we are experiencing negative thoughts and feelings, that low vibration makes its way into the collective energy. Our thoughts, feelings and actions impact others.
For example, have you ever noticed that when you walk into a room and someone has been angry, you feel it without anyone saying anything? You can make the choice to be the dominant energy by consciously getting into a good feeling state .
The Law of Vibration
The Universal Law of Vibration states that everything in the universe, including thoughts, is energy, and energy is always vibrating at its own unique frequency. This law is close to the Law of Attraction. The universe always meets us right where we are. Whatever frequency we’re vibrating at is the frequency we will get in return.
That’s why practices such as meditation, deep breathing and just having fun are important. They keep your vibration high and you’ll attract similar energy to you.
The Law of Correspondence

This law tells us that patterns repeat throughout the universe at different levels of existence. The universe reflects the individual and vice versa.
In other words, our reality is a mirror of what is going on within us.
“As within, so without.”
Have you ever noticed that planets orbiting a central sun are like electrons orbiting the nucleus in an atom? It illustrates the axiom, “As above, so below.” I’ve always found that interesting!
Do some self-reflecting and see if you notice any patterns that keep repeating in your life. If you notice patterns that you don’t like, that can be a reflection of subconscious beliefs that you can shift. Practices such as Mindfulness, EFT (tapping) and PSYCH-K can help.
The Law of Attraction
This law is the most well-known of the twelve. It states simply that “like attracts like.” It has also been expressed as, “That which is like unto itself is drawn.” What we feel, think and believe is what manifests for us in the world.
If you feel joyful and appreciative of what you have in your life, you’ll attract other things that will feel joyful and of value to you. If you hold beliefs of lack, you’ll draw more experiences of lack to yourself.
The universe is taking its cue from you.
It is important to note that when you have emotions like sadness, worry or anger, it’s perfectly alright to sit with them for awhile and explore what message they have for you. Ask yourself what you have learned from the situation. How can you grow from it? Be gentle with yourself and thank these emotions for trying to help you.
When you try to skip over negative emotions without acknowledging them or processing them, they stay inside and fester. They can show up later as disease or an emotional outburst.
The Law of Inspired Action
Since we live in a physical world, some action is required to bring us what we want. The Law of Inspired Action states that you must take real, actionable, inspired steps in order to achieve your goals and invite your manifestation into your life.
There is a difference between trying to motivate ourselves to take actions we don’t want to do and taking action when we feel a deep, inner urge or inspiration. Inspired action feels good and is often something easy to do. It will be aligned with your values. Inspired action sometimes doesn’t seem to make sense, yet there is a deep inner knowing that this is the correct action.
There are times when no action is required—yet. Be patient and ready for when inspiration strikes.
Pay attention to dreams and practice meditation and/or journaling. It’s in those quiet times you’ll get the inspired ideas from your Higher Self.
Law of the Perpetual Transmutation of Energy

This law states that energy is in motion and is always changing. It reminds us that change is the only constant.
This means that higher, positive energy can change lower, negative energy. (The reverse is also true.) As a conscious, deliberate creator you can choose to notice your energy and then adjust to a higher vibe if needed.
So, if you realize you’re feeling angry, stressed, anxious, sad or just kind of blah, you can choose to do something that lifts your spirits and shifts you to a higher vibration.
Activities that may help you shift can be anything from:
- Dancing around your house (I’ve done it!)
- Listening to music
- Exercising
- Focussing on the things you’re grateful for
- Watching a funny movie
- Meditation
- Being in nature
- Law of Attraction practices
The Law of Cause and Effect
The Law of Cause and Effect states that every action has a corresponding reaction. Every action we take has a result or effect. The energy you put out into the world will have a consequence that will come back to you. This is an example of karma, which is simply balance, not punishment.
To work with this law, become more aware of how what you do or say affects other people. Are you spreading joy or negativity? Spreading positive energy brings you the effect of more joy and balanced karma.
The Law of Compensation
This law is related to the law of cause and effect and the law of attraction. It can be expressed as “You reap what you sow.” Whatever we put out into the world as our deeds and intentions, is what we receive in kind. These can be material or spiritual gifts. The more you treat others with kindness and value, the more you receive in return. In my mind, this includes treating animals and nature with love and respect. The universe will find unique ways to reward you.
The Law of Relativity
The law of relativity states that everything is neutral. Our perception of the world is based on our own point of view. We assign meaning to the things we see and experience. We are all faced with what we see as challenges to overcome. These allow us to grow and strengthen our characters. By seeing the challenges in a more positive light, we can overcome them.
As you might expect, this is not everyone’s favorite law! But step back and take a look at the times in your life that you felt were difficult and yucky (technical word!). You will realize how much you grew and the opportunities it presented.
If you didn’t learn what you needed to from the challenge, it will show up again. Look for the lessons and the gifts in your challenges. Then you’ll grow instead of having to repeat them!
The Law of Polarity
This law is about the duality we live in. Everything has an equal opposite.
Without hot there could be no cold. We can only experience “up” if there is a “down.” Having experiences we don’t like clarifies for us what do want to experience.
The Law of Polarity lets us choose how we want to show up in the world. You can choose to be pessimistic or positive! You can see a setback as a disaster or a growth experience. Use this law to break up negative thinking patterns. If things aren’t going right and you’re in worry mode, think about the things that have gone right in your life.
The Law of Rhythm

The Law of Rhythm states that cycles of change are a natural part of the universe. Life isn’t purely linear. It has natural cycles. Examples are the turn of the seasons, the phases of the moon, and the ebb and flow of tides.
Our lives, also, are bound by cyclical changes. The Law of Rhythm teaches us that life is a series of rhythmic patterns and cycles. Just as we learned from the Law of Transmutation of Energy, nothing is permanent. Everything has its own time.
If things are going well for you, be grateful and enjoy it while lasts!
If you’re in a down time, remember that it won’t last. What are you learning in this down time? How can you go with the flow of this natural rhythm to discover something new? What opportunities does this down time present?
You still have your ability, even in challenging times, to find calm. Meditation or being in nature can be of help.
Just as the earth needs the changes of seasons, so do we need the cycles of life.
The Law of Gender

The Law of Gender is about balancing masculine and feminine energy within ourselves. It has nothing to do with being male or female.
Think yin and yang. In other words, we all have access to both masculine and feminine energies. They exist within us.
Divine Masculine energy is confident, decisive, assertive, logical and action-oriented. It is the energy of “doing.”
Divine Feminine energy is creative, nurturing, empathic, intuitive, introspective and adaptable. It is the energy of “being.”
In order to be successful and fulfilled, we need to find a balance of these energies within ourselves and in every situation.
Conclusion
With these 12 Universal Laws to guide us, we can move through life and its ups and downs with more awareness and ease. We can hold new perspectives and see challenges as opportunities.
