My son just sent me this quote that he saw on a public restroom wall:
Until there is commitment, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues forth from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now!

He has been turning his attention more to the Law of Attraction and deliberate creation because life has caused him to realize if he wants things to be different, he, and only he, has the power to make it so. As his attention has gone to seeking more knowledge on this subject, he “happened upon” this quote. Gotta love it! Law of Attraction at play!
So–what is Goethe talking about here?
Everything is energy and there is only a flow of well-being. We either allow it or resist it. The whole universe is poised to assist us in creating what we desire. However, we must also be a cooperative component in the manifesting process.
When you are clear on what you want and declare, “Yes, I’m ready to do what it takes! I feel passionate about this and nothing will stand in my way!” then you become a cooperative component in manifesting and you open up energy to flow. Having a vision that you feel passionate about is a good and necessary start, but it is not enough to manifest it. We currently live in a physical world and our action is the link to manifesting the form. It tells the universe we trust that what we want is on it’s way. The bold taking of action allows the universe to line up those opportunities, people, and events that will bring us miracles.
Let’s consider the word “bold” for a moment. Sometimes that can feel a bit scary to people. The dictionary defines bold as “showing an ability to take risks; confident and courageous.” What would be a courageous act for you? Sometimes it isn’t a big act, but just outside your comfort zone. Going to a networking meeting where you don’t know anyone might be a bold act for you. I know it was for me! Now, after a few years with the group, I confidently get up and give presentations about my coaching business. But the first bold act for me, brand new to the business world, was just showing up.
So–boldness is making the commitment, the decision that this is what you want, and just taking that first step in the direction you want to go. Just begin and, as Goethe says, “all sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred”.
